Romit LTD organized a seminar in the framework of EcoVem project for “Using of Batteryless LoRaWAN Ultrasonic Sensor Node for Smart Garbage Collection”

On 04.06.2022, Romit LTD organized a seminar in the framework of EcoVem project for “Using of Batteryless LoRaWAN Ultrasonic Sensor Node for Smart Garbage Collection” which was held in Smolyan a a small town in southern Bulgaria, where Plovdiv University has a branch. The seminar was attended by many students from the University of Plovdiv, students from the Technical and Technology Vocational High School in the city of Smolyan, profiled nature and mathematics high school “Vasil Levski”, Smolyan, professors from Technical Univeristy – Sofia, employees of production enterprises in the region of Smolyab in the field of the automotive industry.
A special designed ultrasonic sensor node for the realization of LoRaWAN based smart garbage collection, to be deployed for waste management in the Smart Cities context was presented on this dissemination event.

In particular, we present the possibility of using LoRaWAN waterproof ultrasonic sensor nodes powered by solar harvester systems to measure the level of waste in the waste bin and to cut harmful emissions from garbage trucks by reducing their fuel consumption and in this way the frequency of the waste collection procedure.
For dissemination of the results of this cooperation between industry partners from Romit LTD and University partners cooperation a research paper was published in IEEE sponsored conference.
